General Description

178 well appointed rooms with ensuite bathrooms, tv (movielink)and sky tv, minibar, telephone, internet access, clock radio, tea & coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. Centrally located close to city centre and business district. The hotel building has different styles from old world to trendy, with a trendy interior. The hotel features 3 restaurants and one bar. The carlton room for breakfast and function dining, cafe d"oro an off-street coffee shop style eatery, ports o call eatery and grill for more stylish dining. Ports o call bar adjacent to the grill. 24 hour room service and reception. The hotel also has a gym/fitness room. A primary attraction of the hotel is the in-house dunedin casino, chance daily from 10.00 to 03.00 and 04.00 hours. Sight seeing tours are obtainable through reception to the albatross colony and penguin colony at the tip of the otago peninsula. The oldest part of the hotel was formerly known as the imposing hotel and started operations in 1883. Around 1960 to 1965 the hotel was renamed the southern cross hotel and has since been enlarged through adjoining buildings to its present size. Scenic circle acquired the property in the 1980"s.
