General Description
:
The only new zealand hotel located within a world heritage park, the georgian-style bayview chateau tongariro is on the slopes of mount ruapehu, four miles from the ski fields, and approximately 65 miles from taupo. The flight time from auckland or wellington to taupo is approximately one hour. The hotel is about 13 miles from the train station. Chateau tongariro is in the shadow of three busy volcanoes that are part of the 800-square-kilometer tongariro national park, which is also home to waterfalls, river pools, and several lakes where guests can boat, raft, swim, kayak, or picnic. Much of the lord of the rings trilogy was filmed in this national park and guided tours are available (including mount doom). Hotel amenities include the indoor pool, boutiques, cinema, exercise room, sauna, tennis court, restaurant, three cafe-style dining options, and the highest golf course in new zealand. Horse-trekking, quad-biking, bungy-jumping, rock-climbing, sky-diving, mountain-biking, and several other activities are available to guests. The hotel also offers laundry service, parking, and 24-hour room service. All rooms feature king or queen beds, sky tv channels, tea and coffee facilities, minibars, international direct-dial telephones, dataports, irons and ironing boards, and full bathrooms with hairdryers.

Bookings in this run of residence category do not guarantee views of mt ruapehu, mt ngauruhoe or mt tongariro. It however is nestled in the very arms of the tongariro world heritage national park. All rooms contain either a king or queen bed, private bathroom, bathrobes, tea and coffee making facilities, mini-bar; iron and ironing board, hairdryer, sky television, in-room movies, remote control t.V, international direct dial telephones, bed side alarm clock, and an internet connection.
